Ever since I taught my younger sister how to do my summer math packet, I have loved teaching. Though I'll admit my early teaching was born out of avoiding work, I now love teaching because I get to be with people as they discover something new for themselves. From running a free-ESL course to teaching at a premier university, education is a huge part of my life. Below is an overview of my teaching experience. I am always looking for opportunities to share design thinking and UX methods with new audiences and would love to partner with you to do so!
Taught Design Thinking and Communication course to freshman engineers, where students work on real design problems submitted by individuals, non-profits, entrepreneurs, and industry members
Taught college students from top worldwide universities in a 4-week intensive summer abroad program program called iXperience in Cape Town, South Africa. Developed a curriculum focused on design thinking, user research, user experience design, and user interface design.
Taught a 6-week, intensive introduction to design thinking, user research, and user experience design that prepares adults to become UX/UI designers at Designation; Acted as project manager on student projects
Traveled to both Miami, FL and Paris, France to teach at IronHack, an 8-week program for adults to change careers. Led a Google Design Sprint and taught a week on interaction design and information architecture.
I love to apply my user experience and service design skills to the classroom. I consider the audience, goals, and context of each course to create a fun and engaging experience where students can learn. Below is an example of my process for developing the course at iXperience in Cape Town, South Africa, as well as some examples of final student work.
